My family and other animals

I watched this movie again last night, My Family and Other Animals, it's a Masterpiece Theatre production. I t is really a great show. At one point the mother is told she should be proud of what she has accomplished and the person says "Someone once said if you can control your children then you have failed" "Who said that, Aristotle?" "No you did."
Anyways I think I may have accomplished the part about not having control of my children. WooHOO! Here I thought it was about having control, behaving, etc. It did make me think why this would be so important. I think what is implied if your children are flourishing at what they are passionate about, basically polite, content, and self-assured then you are getting it right.
Maybe I am wrong but it certainly helps on those days my children are glaring, arguing, and disobedient.

Consider This:Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapableof contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselvesarealways first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak in your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don't follow anyone who's not going anywhere. With some people you spend an evening; with othersyou invest it. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directionsalong the road of life. Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships.
